Hey all you Geeky Owl readers! 


I'm am really excited to be here! My name is Stephanie and I have a little Canadian nail art blog called Sincerely Stephanie. Kirsten posts some awesome nail art and I really love her Teal Tuesdays so I tried to incorporate that into this post! ( I ended up with more of a blue than a teal, but I tried lol!) 

To get this triangle geometric look I started off with two coats of China Glaze Make Some Noise. This is a redy orange from the 2012 Electopop collection. Once that had dried I took a striping brush and China Glaze For Audrey and created two triangles Then I grabbed Wet n Wild Silvivor and added the silver lines along the barrier between For Audrey and Make Some Noise. I added the white diamond in the middle and then the black lines outlining the diamond. I was planning on leaving it just like that, but it needed a little more pizzaz so I grabbed a square rhinestone and placed it in the middle of the diamond. One coat of NYC In a Minute Top Coat and I was good to go! 

These nails were something that was born out of nothing. I knew that I wanted to use Make Some Noise so I put on some awesome 90's music and bounced along to some great oldies and created these nails. Do you ever just create a manicure out of nothing? Just start painting and end up somewhere? 

Geometric patterns are one of my favourite patterns to create! All they need are a few lines and the possibilities are seriously endless! Do you like geometric patterns? What do you think of the look I created?

Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays: Mustaches & Monocles!

Shhhh! No, I have no idea what you are talking about. Part of this mani so doesn't look familiar! ;) Hahaha! (please see this post) So I decided to recycle a mani a bit. Shhh! :) I used China Glaze Agent Lavender as the base. Konad Black and plate QA28. I then used Color Club French Tip and Wet 'N Wild Black Cream for the monocles.

I was inspired by Samariums Swatches mani: Mustaches & Monocles! (please click the post title or the image to be taken to her site).

I love this mani a ton and it was a blast to recreate it! It's so fun and full of whimsy and awesomeness! Yep, awesomeness! :)

This week I decided to copy Emma's mani over at Manicurity: Eek! Faces. I thought these were so stinkin' cute! I used Nicole by OPI Wild Blue Yonder - Matte as my base. This is a lovely matte that almost has a suede like finish. I used Wet n' Wild Black Creme and Color Club French tip for the faces.

These little faces are so fun and easy! I want to do them again during Halloween! :)

LOSTathon: Season 6

Day 6 = Season 6 LOSTicure

 

Here is my representation of season 6 of LOST:

Thumb: represents the main theme black and white running throughout the entire show and particularly between Jacob and The Man in Black's battle.

Pointer: represents the lighthouse that contains one of two lists of Jacob's candidates. Names of different people are seen on the bearings with only 5 that have not been crossed out. These are: Reyes, Ford, Shephard, Jarrah, and Kwon (Sun or Jin?).

Middle: this is Jacob's ankh with their names on it, that is given to Hurley before he returns to the island.

Ring: this is the cliffside cave that has the other list of candidates names. The Man in Black took Sawyer here to see his name carved into the wall. But the list still contained the name of Locke, not having been crossed out yet. And each name had a corresponding number 4-Locke, 8-Reyes, 15-Ford, 16-Jarrah, 23-Shephard, and 42-Kwon (numbers look familiar?).

Pinkie: represents Jacob's ashes.

Here are the technicals for the mani:

Thumb: Color Club French Tip and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.

Pointer: Essie Borrowed & Blue, Finger Paints Sketchy, China Glaze Stone Cold, Duri Gin Greyhound, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.

Middle: China Glaze Smoke and Ashes and OPI Warm & Fozzie.

Ring:Finger Paints Haute Taupe, Finger Paints Artist's Inspiration, China Glaze Stone Cold, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.

Pinkie: Essence The Dawn is Broken.

See the creepiness that occurred when I took the picture? See The Man in Black in the caveside cliff. That is not my reflection. I saw it when I was taking the picture and moved around and it didn't move! Do you also see the eye in the lower left corner of the yin yang symbol? Spooky! Wasn't planned either! :)

What did I love about this season?

-the back story of Jacob and The Man in Black

-Sun and Jin's reunion!

-Richard's story

-Ben's crazy secret room! :)

-"Locke" as the smoke monster!

-the flash-sideways

What did I hate about this season?

-crazy Claire

-Sun and Jin in the submarine :'(

-Sayid and the bomb :'(

-the what the crap just happenedness is all through out this season up to the very end!

-it ends. :'(

LOSTathon: Season 5

Day 5 = Season 5 LOSTicure

Here is my representation of season 5 of LOST:

Thumb: represents the remains (foot with four toes) of the statue of Taweret where Jacob lives. This is also where Jacob dies.

Pointer: RIP Jacob.

Middle: represents Sawyer's name, James "Jim" LaFleur that he takes in 1974-77 when working for the Dharma Initiative.

Ring: represents the Ajira Airways plane that the Oceanic 6 took to get back to the island.

Pinkie: the chain represents the chain that pulls Juliet down the Swan's metal shaft, she falls down the shaft and trapped, hits the bomb with a rock until it explodes. Her death (which occurs a bit later) was really sad because I liked her and Sawyer together and I was sad for Sawyer.

Here are the technicals for the mani:

Thumb: Finger Paints Go van Gogh!, Sally Hansen Deep Blue Sea, China Glaze Ingrid, OPI Skull & Glossbones, and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep.

What did I love about this season?

-that Jin isn't dead like you thought in the previous season!

-Daniel's and Charlotte's relationship and the story she tells him before she dies about meeting him when she was a child.

-finding out that the smoke monster resides under the temple

-a lot more scenes with Richard

-finding out that Locke isn't really dead....or is he....da da daaaaaaa! :)

-learning more about Jacob

What did I hate about this season?

-I didn't really like the off island scenes.

-Daniel getting shot by his own mother when she was younger! (mind trip!)

-the whole scene with Juliet being pulled down the shaft (poor Sawyer!)

-Ben killing Jacob

LOSTathon: Season 4

Day 4 = Season 4 LOSTicure

Here is my representation of season 4 of LOST:

Thumb: is for The Oceanic 6, those 6 members (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, and Aaron)

Pointer: represents the helicopter (yes, that is what it is!) that the Oceanic 6 are on when the island is moved. The person jumping from the helicopter is Sawyer, which he did to free up weight so the rest of them could make it.

Middle: represents the frozen wheel (with the light emanating from it) that Ben turns to move the island in time and space to keep it from Widmore.

Ring: represents the entrance of Daniel Faraday and those sent by Widmore to find Ben Linus.

Pinkie: represents intersecting lines of Jack's crazy maps as he searches for the island to be able to go back.

Here are the technicals for the mani:

Thumb: Color Club French Tip, Ulta Blue For You, Essence Let's Get Lost, and Essie First Dance.

Pointer: Essie Borrowed & Blue, Essence Romeo, and Wet n Wild Black Creme.

Middle: Essence You Belong to Me, Catrice Lost in Mud, and Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow.

What did I love about this season?

-Introduction of Daniel, Miles, Charlotte, and Frank.

-When Sawyer shows more of his goodness and jumps out of the helicopter in order for the others to be saved! He can be such a good guy! And a big stinker too!

-Sayid and Nadia are finally together! (for a bit)

-Finding out Jack are Claire are related, she is his half-sister!

-Jack's beard! (hahaha!). It led to the name of Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and his girlfriend's podcast Geronimo Jack's Beard

-Charlie's back! Well, only has visions that Hurley can see, but he's back!

What did I hate about this season?

-Michael is back (I really just don't like his character).

-Jack and his issues.

-Hurley in the Santa Rosa Mental Institute. Because he isn't really crazy!

-There are other things that I didn't like about this season, but for the life of me I can't remember! :)

LOSTathon: Season 2

Day 2 = Season 2 LOSTicure

Here is my representation of season 2 of LOST:

Thumb: are the 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. These numbers occurred frequently on LOST. They are the numbers that need to be entered into the computer in the hatch, they are the numbers that Hurley won the lottery with, they are the numbers that represent the final candidates to replace Jacob as protector of the island (not this season).

Pointer: is the Dharma (Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Application) Initiative logo. This is the first time we really find out about them from inside the hatch and other stations. We find out the hatch is the Swan Station.

Middle: represents the tail section of the plane and it's survivors, some being: Eko, Ana Lucia, Libby (poor Libby), and Bernard.

Ring: represents the hot air balloon that brought Henry Gale to the island. But we later find out the real Henry Gale was killed and Ben stole his identity. This is the first time we meet Benjamin Linus.

Pinkie: is a gun (yes, it's suppose to be a gun!) and it represents the struggle with power and the need of guns, and how many people die because of guns in this season (Shannon, Ana Lucia, Libby)

Here are the technicals for the mani:

Thumb: Color Club French Tip with OPI Skull & Glossbones over it, and Finger Paints Groovy Green.

Pointer: Color Club French Tip, Konad Special Black, and Chez Delaney plate D25.

What did I love about this season?

-I loved the relationship between Hurley and Libby! (poor Libby!)

-Desmond and his accent! *swoon* (brother! said in his accent!)

-I love Rose and Bernard and their reunion!

-Ana Lucia died. :)

What did I hate about this season?

-Libby died!

-The eerie Walt visions of Shannon, kinda creepy

-Shannon's death, though she wasn't a favorite character I do like Sayid and felt sad for him!

-Michael and Walt's entire storyline. Not a fan of either!

-Ana Lucia. Did not like her character at all!

-Still making my brow wrinkle! (but I also love that about the show too!)

Now to wait until tomorrow for season 3, at least you only have to wait a day and not a whole summer! ;)

Look what I got! I got this lovely awesome package from Jackie and MeMa's Mani's for winning her First Fifty Follower Giveaway! Love it all! I will be trying to do more swatches and comparisons soon. School has been awful and I have seriously no time to do anything! But I am halfway through the semester this week! Yippee! So please don't give up on my yet! :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 18, Half Moon Nails

**WARNING: we interrupt this blog post to bring you this important announcement. Do not look directly at cuticles, may cause cringing and involuntary gasps. That is all**

Good, I'm glad to see that our warning system is in check. Today is half moon nails. I'm not a huge fan of this trend. I think it's really weird. But my list said to do it and I did, but with a twist! I copied Chloe's Nails Edgy Half Moon Mani. I figured I had the Wet n Wild Hannah Pinktana, so why not try it! My Hannah Pinktana isn't as dark as hers but you still get the picture. I used Sally Hansen Black Out as my base.You can see my mess up on my pointer finger, a little too much polish and not enough sticky on the tape.

Here is a close up of the holo-goodness of Hannah Pinktana that I never knew existed until I looked at Chloe's blog! Pretty! But there's something, I don't know, very 80's about this mani. It might be the sharpness of the v? Who knows. But it rings a little 1980 art deco to me.

I'm sorry about the ickiness that is my skin and cuticles. I think that this mani a day is sucking my will to live  I mean it's really starting to dry out my hands, no matter what Burt's Bees or hand lotion I use. Also, the season is changing here in Arizona (from mild winter to short lived spring) and that really bothers my skin. So I'm sorry! :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 1, Red Nails

So for this challenge I wanted to be able to use a lot of my untrieds. This is Sooki, by Zoya, I got her in my Birchbox. I haven't been a real big fan of the few Zoya polishes I have. Which is really sad because they are so pretty! But they bubble like crazy on me. Surprisingly enough Snooki didn't bubble! She is a bit to bright red for me, very 1940s vintage red. I decided to darken and add some sparkles!

I sponged on Wet n Wild's Behind Closed Doors, from their On the Prowl collection. It has small and large red hex glitter plus some fine red glitter all in a grey base. I like how it deepened the red.

I wanted to show you how grey the Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors' base actually is. I usually don't use this many sponges but I wanted you to see the deep grey it took on as well as the swatch on the paper. Just letting you know! ;)
